My story

Meet Verso – The Chill, Blanket-Burrowing Gentleman Verso is a one-year-old, white American Pit Bull Terrier with a heart as big as his cozy blanket stash. He’s deaf, and while most people think that’s a challenge, it’s actually one of his coolest quirks—you never have to worry about teaching him verbal cues! He’s already perfected several hand signals for yes, come, find it, collar, and sit. Training a deaf dog does require extra dedication, consistency, and patience—relying on visual cues, body language, and trust—but the bond you build is incredibly deep and rewarding. We recommend Verso's family checks out the website: DEAF DOGS ROCK. They are a great resource, and show you how to train a deaf dog! When Verso first came to us, he needed a little extra TLC—a few medicated baths for his skin, a dental to make his mouth feel better, and plenty of love from his trainers. He took it all in stride, bonding closely with his caregivers and soaking up every new skill they introduced. Verso has some early-onset arthritis, so he appreciates a pace of life that’s more “stroll through the park” than “marathon sprint.” He adores spending time outside with his favorite humans, asking politely for chin scritches and all the treats he can charm his way into. Indoors, Verso is the definition of cozy. He is infamous for tucking himself into bed—yes, literally—burrowing under soft blankets like a pro napper. Beds, blankets, and comfort are his happy place, and he’s not shy about making himself at home. Named after a character in Expedition 13, Verso is ready to start his next great adventure—this time, in a forever home with people who appreciate his gentle nature, quiet companionship, and adorable snoozing skills. If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back friend who will love you just as much as his blankets, Verso is waiting to meet you. Verso is an All-Star dog! His adoption comes with some extra benefits at time of adoption. Their adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and they will go home with their very own no-pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get them off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Verso, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Verso, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
