My story

Meet Lucy Lucy is a 1.5-year-old, 56-pound sweetheart with the cutest tail you’ve ever seen. Life hasn’t always been easy for her, and the shelter environment makes her nervous—she often paces, unsure of what’s happening around her. She’s still figuring out how she feels about pets and touch, but she’s looking for someone she can learn to trust.Because of her timid nature, Lucy needs a calm, understanding adopter—ideally someone with prior dog experience—who can offer steady guidance and gentle encouragement. She needs a quiet environment with no small children. In the right home, we believe she will begin to relax, gain confidence, and show the affectionate personality that’s just waiting beneath the surface. Lucy needs a quiet home without small children, where she can take her time to adjust. She needs a family who will respect her boundaries, celebrate small victories, and be patient as she discovers the joy of feeling safe and loved.Adoption fee waived as part of Maryland 3000!Meet Lucy during our open adoption hours: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri: 10:00–12:30 & 2:00–4:00; Thurs: 10:00–12:30 & 2:00–6:30; Sat: 9:00–1:00Adoption applications can be completed and approved during your visit.If you have another dog, a meet-and-greet is required before adoption.
