My story

Meet Gumbo! A 6 year old mixed breed with a smile as big as his heart… and his appetite! Gumbo found his way to HSSM on August 8th, 2025, after being picked up by animal control as a stray in Pass Christian. Without a collar, tags, or microchip, and with no one stepping forward to claim him, this handsome boy is now counting on us to help him find the loving family he deserves. If you’re looking for the perfect movie night companion, one who will happily join you for snacks and snuggles, Gumbo’s your guy. He’s well mannered, already knows how to “sit” like a pro, and makes outings a joy with his excellent leash manners and eagerness to greet new friends. His bold, joyful smile lights up every room (and sidewalk) he enters. When he’s not impressing you with his charm, Gumbo loves soaking up the sunshine, enjoying endless belly rubs, and leaning in for all the cuddles you can give. He’s neutered, fully vetted, up to date on vaccines, and best of all, heartworm negative! If you’re ready for a loyal best friend who will greet you every day with a wagging tail and a grin you can’t resist, Gumbo is waiting at HSSM, ready to flash that big smile just for you.
