My story

Meet Cosmo! Cosmo is a 2-year-old black, tan, and white merle pup with a heart as striking as his coat! While he can be a little anxious when meeting new people, he’s very treat-motivated, and earning his trust is as simple as offering a few tasty snacks. Once he knows you, Cosmo’s affectionate side shines—he’ll press against you for pets, give you his paw (repeatedly!) in hopes of another treat, and happily lean in for hugs!Cosmo already knows several commands, including sit, paw, stay, and come, and he responds to his name. Cosmo recently met another dog in a controlled setting and remained calm and neutral throughout, coexisting peacefully during their time together. While Cosmo would do best in a home with no cats, he could be a great fit for the right dog companion. He’s more comfortable with familiar people and will thrive in a home that understands his need for a little warm-up time with strangers. Loyal and mellow once settled, Cosmo is ready for a home where he can be the center of attention and share his big heart with those he trusts!If you’re looking for a smart, devoted companion who will reward your patience with unwavering loyalty, Cosmo is waiting to meet you!This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
