Meet Rocky-Sweet Soul of a Perfect Pair! Rocky is a 55-pound chocolate merle English Bulldog with a heart as big as his blocky head. His story began in San Diego, where he and his partner, Lilah, were cruelly dumped on the streets and left to fend for themselves. The only thing they had was each other. When our rescue saw a social media post about them, we immediately started working to bring them to safety. Another rescue initially showed interest, but when they backed out, it was clear Rocky and Lilah still desperately needed help. They were placed in a foster-to-adopt situation, but when that arrangement fell apart, we made an urgent trip to Southern California to retrieve them. Their foster was reluctant to let them go, but in the end, Rocky and Lilah made it safely into our care and are now being fostered in Arizona. Personality: From the moment you meet him, Rocky’s presence radiates happiness. He is docile, affectionate, and incredibly sweet, with an energy that feels electric and contagious. His joy is palpable—when Rocky is happy, everyone around him feels it. He loves to be at your feet, and if he’s not right by you, he’s sure to be next to Lilah, or more often, both of you together. Rocky embodies that special bulldog charm: goofy, stubborn, and completely lovable. He can get excited and jump on people for attention, so his new family should embrace that big-hearted bulldog enthusiasm. For this reason, we recommend Rocky and Lilah go to a family with children over the age of ten, simply to ensure that his joy-filled leaps don’t knock over younger kids. Rocky is not a fighter and has shown no signs of aggression. He is a peacekeeper at heart, a dog who thrives on harmony and reflects the energy of those around him. Like many sensitive and emotional dogs, Rocky’s demeanor is shaped by love, kindness, and positivity. In the right home, he will flourish into the best version of himself, he could also potentially have his human being the best version of themselves! Bonded: If you’ve been searching for your next cutest couple, look no further. Rocky and Lilah are the perfect duo. For married couples who love adventures and the outdoors, they truly are a dream come true—one for each of you to share life’s journey with. Together, they bring balance, companionship, and unconditional love. Their bond is unshakable; if Lilah isn’t in sight, Rocky will look for her immediately. After being abandoned with no one else to rely on, it’s no wonder they are so deeply connected. They must be adopted together, and we will not consider separating them. Health/Training: Rocky is already showing great progress in his foster home. He takes treats very gently, knows basic commands like “sit” and “come,” and has no issues going in and out of his crate. His potty training is moving along well—he has never had an accident in his crate and always does his business outside, though he does still occasionally mark indoors. We believe this is mostly due to the presence of other male dogs in his foster home, and with consistency and a calmer environment, this will improve over time. On leash, Rocky walks fairly well, though he may pull a little in his eagerness. With continued guidance, he will only get better. He also travels wonderfully in the car. Although he would prefer to sit on your lap, with a seatbelt harness he quickly settles down, either laying comfortably or watching the world pass by. He is currently regaining weight and uses a slow feeder. He is eating a fish-based kibble and he really seem to love it when we put raw salmon in it! He does have a runny nose that we are managing, but overall he is healthy and getting stronger every day. Transition: What makes Rocky and Lilah extra special overall, how seamlessly they adapt. These two are for sure family dogs. From what we’ve seen so far, they transition beautifully into new environments and lifestyles, making them an excellent fit for almost any home. They get along wonderfully with other dogs and truly enjoy canine companionship. We also do not foresee any issues with cats in Rocky’s future—his gentle, peace-loving demeanor makes him highly adaptable and welcoming of all creatures. Rocky and Lilah’s story is one of resilience, loyalty, and love. They have survived the worst together, and now they deserve the very best—a forever family that will embrace them as the inseparable pair they are. If you are looking for double the love, double the joy, and double the bulldog cuddles, Rocky and Lilah are waiting for you. Rocky is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, his adoption donation fee is $1000.00. You can apply for Rocky and Lilah on our website at freedomfrenchierescue.org. Located in Mesa, AZ.
