My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog F:4Kevin – The Shy Sweetheart Finding His Confidence Kevin is a 3-year-old, 57-pound male Pit Bull Terrier with a tender heart and a gentle spirit. Though new experiences can feel overwhelming for him, this boy is slowly learning that the world isn’t so scary—with patience, he blossoms into a loving, curious companion. Sensitive on leash: Kevin tends “pancakes” (lying down flat) when feeling uncertain. With some gentle encouragement, or sometimes the help of another dog nearby, he finds the courage to proceed. Playful spark: Off leash in a yard, his silly side begins to shine—he gets startled initially, then he may bounce back with a play bow or a little scoot, making it clear he has a fun-loving nature underneath the shyness. Treat Connoisseur: While he can be picky about treats, he’s learning to enjoy tasty rewards like chickens. Brave moments: After having some time to decompress, Kevin often starts sniffing around, approaching people for gentle pets, and even greeting new friends with soft, low tail wags. Heartwarming progress: With the right environment, Kevin is sure to grow more confident every day, showing off the sweet, affectionate dog he truly is.
