My story

Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Marvin!  Marvin is a senior boy and is looking for a special adopter who will love him for the special boy he is.  Marvin came to us as a stray and is estimated to be 15 years old. He weighs just under 6 pounds. Marvin is NOT neutered and due to his advanced age, we’ve elected not to perform this surgery.  He is blind in his left eye but has excellent hearing! Marvin takes Vetmedin (less than $2/day) for a mild enlargement of the heart. He also has a medium-grade heart murmur. He takes two inexpensive meds for his arthritis. Marvin eats a combination of soft/canned food plus kibble softened overnight in water.   Marvin is a sweet boy but he can also be cranky. He will threaten and sometimes bite when agitated. It helps if you approach him from his right side so that he is not startled. Please note he is a nuisance biter and he is not dangerous to healthy adults. Marvin gets around well in spite of his arthritis. He follows his people closely and gets underfoot as a trip hazard when it’s his mealtime. For these reasons Marvin needs a breed experienced adopter who has no mobility restrictions.   Marvin loves to go outside and walks well on a leash. He gets along great with his larger and smaller foster siblings. Marvin will stand his ground if someone gets in his space but he does not initiate conflict. He likes to sleep next to his people on the sofa during TV time, but he prefers his own little bed overnight. Marvin is house trained but needs to go outside every few hours to avoid mishaps in the house. When his people need to leave, Marvin usually snoozes in his bed. He sometimes wears a belly band if his people need to be away for 4 or more hours.  In spite of Marvin’s quirky demeanor, he has a lot of love and companionship to give to the right person. If you are looking for a very big personality in a small senior dog package, Marvin might be the dog for you. We are adopting him to an adult-only home.
