**$490 in pledges for the rescue that pulls** ** Extended ** Chloe ACCT-A-227982 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Chloe must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER or ADOPTER by Wednesday, August 20th at 10 A.M. Should Chloe's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Chloe is a 12-year-old spayed female who spent her whole life with one family before recently arriving at ACCT. Her previous owner noted that she had been vomiting, having more frequent bowel movements, and occasionally going outside of the litter box even when it was clean. These symptoms began about a week prior to surrender. Despite this, Chloe has continued eating and drinking normally. Upon arrival at ACCT, Chloe was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and has started on medication (methimazole). She also has a heart murmur, likely related to her thyroid condition, but she remains bright, alert, and social. Chloe weighs just 6 pounds and would thrive in a quiet home that can provide her with the care and love she deserves in her golden years. VIDEO: https://youtube.com/shorts/mWIaiMRIj-U 8/16 Per staff: Met Chloe in her kennel. She was lying at the top, avoiding eye contact. I placed my hand low and left it there for a moment before moving closer to her. When I touched her, she tensed up and leaned away. I stopped and started over, again placing my hand low and speaking softly to her. Instead of reaching over her head, I tried slowly and gently petting her back, but she hissed. I stopped and backed off for a bit while continuing to speak softly. When I tried again, she did not appear to enjoy the petting, so I did not push it further and ended our interaction. On 8/14, During an exam Chloe was placed on gabapentin the day prior to help facilitate handling, but remained uncooperative and required a towel wrap for her blood draw. At that time she weighed 6.44 pounds, still maintaining a thin body condition score of 3/9, with moderate generalized muscle wasting. She was bright, alert, and responsive with a Fear, anxiety, stress score of 3/5, tolerating handling only for short periods. Her physical exam revealed mild tartar and gingivitis consistent with stage 2 periodontal disease. She had a grade 4/6 bilateral heart murmur with strong synchronous pulses. Her abdomen was soft and non-painful, with no palpable masses, though a pendulous abdomen was observed without evidence of fluid wave. Several mats were noted on her legs and neck but no cutaneous lesions or ectoparasites were present. Diagnostics revealed a low platelet count, which was likely due to clotting, as well as elevated ALP at 122 and ALT at 177. Her total T4 was greater than 20 µg/dL, which is consistent with hyperthyroidism. Based on her clinical presentation and diagnostics, Chloe was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and it was suspected that her heart murmur was secondary to her thyroid disease, though primary heart or valve disease could not be entirely ruled out. Other considerations included chronic renal disease and inflammatory bowel disease. 8/11 Per staff: Older kitty. Suspect Hyperthyroid. Modest amount of matting. Social BAR On 8/8, during an initial intake exam it was noted that Chloe had staining on her canines, her coat was clean but has matting under hind legs and around hind area. Overall bright, alert, responsive but runs out of kitty minutes quickly but can be toweled 8/6 Per owner: She Loves strangers; but is nervous/fearful with strangers and children. She is selective with dogs, neutral with cats and she is not a lap cat. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
