My story

Roman is a sweet and tenderhearted dog who is about 6 years old and weighs 43 pounds. Salukis are cherished as gentle and loyal companions, renowned for their dignified demeanor and affectionate nature. Despite their hunting heritage, they are calm and reserved at home, making them a great choice for owners seeking a dog that balances elegance with loyalty. He does have a warm-up period when meeting new people. He needs to learn to trust after he was mistreated by his former owner. Coming from the environment he was in previously, it is apparent that he wasn’t handled very much, or treated very well, so he just needs time to know that he is in a safe space. He gets along well with other dogs here at the rescue, and especially loves our other Saluki, Sable. He would do best in a calm and patient home without small children where he can get acclimated to new surroundings and learn to trust. He is a wonderful dog who just wants a family to call his own! Roman is at our recue located in Hondo, Texas. He is neutered, up to date on all shots, microchipped and his adoption fee is $325. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol.
