Bess is a sweet and tenderhearted dog who is about 4 years old and weighs 14 pounds. We rescued her and her 2 puppies Billy and Buddy from someone's yard near the border of Mexico. She does have a warm-up period when meeting new people. Once she knows you will be kind to her, she loves to get attention and affection. Coming from the environment she was in previously, it is apparent that she wasn’t handled very much so she just needs time to trust and know that she is in a safe space. She gets along well with the other dogs at the rescue. She would do best in a calm and patient home where she can acclimate to her new surroundings and learn to trust. For the first few weeks, use a harness when walking her until she gets used to you. She is a wonderful dog who just wants a family to call her own! Bess is located in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Gettysburg, PA on August 23rd. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $450. The fee includes the transport cost. If you would like to add this tender cutie to your family, please review our process and complete an application here - https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/adopt Learn more about our rescue here: https://www.facebook.com/TracysPawsRescue Services our dogs receive prior to adoption: Chagas Testing Heartworm and Tick Testing (age appropriate) All age-appropriate vaccines Heartworm and flea/tick preventatives Spay/neuter surgery Microchip *The breed(s) listed are guessed and based on the dog's physical appearance* Bess tested positive for heartworms and has been treated. Bess tested positive for Chagas disease and has started treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. For more information, please review here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/chagas
