My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Brooklyn & Bronx | 4–5 months old | 10 lbs   Meet Brooklyn and Bronx, a pair of 4–5 month old puppies who came to us from the shelter with their (presumed) mom, Fresca (a tiny 9 lb gal). These siblings are full of personality, mischief, and love — and while they started out glued to each other’s side, they’re growing into their own unique little selves.   Daily Routine   Brooklyn and Bronx are early risers, usually up between 6–7 a.m. (earlier if their humans are moving around). They potty quickly on their pads, then it’s time for a round of puppy roughhousing and zoomies before breakfast. After some yard play, they settle into a mid-morning nap while the family heads off to work and school.   Their day flows with a rhythm of play → nap → play → nap. They enjoy meals three times a day, regular potty breaks outside, and plenty of chances to chase balls, tug ropes, or wrestle with each other. By evening, they’re ready for dinner and some family cuddle time before heading into their crate around 8:30–9 p.m. — where they sleep peacefully through the night.   Personalities   When they first arrived, these two did everything together — eating, sleeping, playing, even pottying at the same time. They were true velcro siblings with a major case of FOMO. After a week in foster, though, their independence has started to show, and their unique personalities are shining.   Bronx is the sweet, clever one. He learns new things quickly (potty training, “sit,” fetching), gazes into your eyes like he’s having a conversation, and loves to be held like a baby. He’s the calmer, cuddlier sibling, content to soak up attention and snuggles.   Brooklyn is the spunky, bouncy one. She’s feisty with her brother, often the one to start play, and she’s a natural climber. She’s affectionate but on her own terms — happy to be scooped up, though she’d usually rather be bouncing into the hammock or leading the chase in the yard.   Both are enthusiastic, playful, affectionate pups who greet their people with showers of kisses, happy hops onto the couch, and the occasional ambush of puppy licks. As their foster’s 8-year-old says: “They zoom around like gas molecules.”   Likes & Quirks   Roughhousing and zoomies are their favorite hobbies.   They both tilt their heads adorably when listening to new sounds, especially music.   They love to hop on the hammock with their humans.   Bronx once “corrected” his potty aim mid-poop to make sure he hit the pad — clever boy!   Brooklyn has a lot to say about squirrels and printers (two very suspicious things, in her opinion).   They’re curious about everything — from bugs in the yard to the sound of a ukulele.   Training & Manners   Doing well with pad training and learning to go outside.   Crate-trained and sleep through the night.   Learning “sit” and starting to fetch.   Teething: love chew toys, sticks, and bully sticks; easily redirected from inappropriate chewing.   Minimal barking (mostly at each other during play, or at squirrels).   No walks yet due to unfinished vaccinations, but they love exploring the yard off-leash.   Ideal Homes   Brooklyn and Bronx will be adopted separately. Each needs an active home that appreciates puppy energy and is ready for the work (and joy) of raising a young dog.   Both pups are great with kids (they live with children ages 8–13 in foster and adore them), greet all visitors warmly, and would be wonderful family dogs.     These two will keep you on your toes with their puppy antics, then melt your heart when they slow down for belly rubs, cuddles, or sleepy snuggles in your arms. Whether it’s head-tilting at music, double-teaming a frisbee, or curling up after playtime, Brooklyn and Bronx are pure puppy joy.   If you’re ready for laughter, energy, and love (with a side of puppy mischief), Brooklyn or Bronx might just be your perfect match.August 19, 2025, 7:15 am
