My story

Benny has spent the last 7 weeks completing a Board & Train Program and it’s time to put his adoption bio back online! Benny now understands a whole list of verbal commands, has been working on neutrality in everyday situations (a challenge for an exuberant young doodle), and most importantly we now have tools to address his resource guarding tendencies, which are really more of a defense mechanism for when he doesn’t get his way. Time with a professional has allowed us to have a better understanding of why Benny does the things he does which has helped us identify the forever home he needs. Now doubt Benny is adorable. He is also a rockstar with obedience when in an environment that provides structure and clear expectations. But he’s not perfect. No dog is. We are seeking adopters who are willing to learn all his commands and can follow through with maintaining structure. Benny is the type of dog that if you give an inch, he takes a mile. Adopters will need to be willing to listen to the instructions of his trainers and be open to follow up sessions to learn how to set you both up for success. If adopters put in the work, you will be rewarded with a great dog after the inevitable learning curve. Benny is a great car rider and in public settings, good in his crate and on leash. Although he has been fostered with other dogs and is extremely friendly, we are seeking a home with no other pets so Benny can have undivided attention. No cats! An adult only home (no roommates) where all members of the family can and are willing to participate in training will also be best for Benny. He has been recently groomed, is up to date vaccinations, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and has been neutered and microchipped. Benny’s adoption fee is $300.
