My story

My name is Schroeder and I’m looking for my forever home! I came to my foster home here in Chicago after my family could no longer care for me. I was sad and confused, but SIRA promised that it would be okay. Foster mom says that I am a very good boy! I’m laid-back, curious and happy. I like to follow foster mom around to watch what she’s doing. If she has to leave the house, I will hang out in my crate or free-roam with no accidents or mischief. My favorite thing to do is to go for leash walks. Being a city dog is kinda cool! I love to explore and I am not scared of city things like the noise of the train or walking over grates in the sidewalk or riding the elevator. I have good leash manners (well, maybe an occasional burst of the zoomies) and haven’t chased any birds or squirrels. I am 7 years-old and I weigh 20 lbs. I’ve gotten a clean bill of health at the vet and I’m neutered and vaccinated. I really like other dogs. You see, I spent most of my life at a commercial breeding facility where there were lots of other dogs. I don’t live with any cats or small pets, nor with any human kids. Whenever I meet kids on our walks, I greet them politely, with a sniff. My foster mom thinks I’ll adapt well to a variety of home settings. I love being around other dogs, but it’s not a requirement. As long as you have time to take me for leash walks, I’d do fine without a fenced yard. Foster mom thinks I’d do okay with kids, as long as they were respectful.
