Arlo’s journey hasn’t been easy—this sweet, sensitive boy came to us completely shut down after his time in the shelter. Now that he’s in a Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue foster home, we’re starting to see his gentle heart shine through. Arlo can be leery of new people, especially men, and may greet them with a low growl at first. He warms up more quickly to women, but with slow introductions, patience, and consistency, he’s happy to make new friends. In his foster home, it took him about 2 days to get comfortable with the man of the house and only 1 day with his foster mom and teenage sons—now he absolutely adores his people. Once you’re “his,” you’ll have a loyal shadow who follows you everywhere. Velcro Vibes: Arlo prefers to sleep in the same room as his humans and isn’t a fan of being left alone—he may bark a bit when you leave, but he’s learning to settle. Adventure Buddy: He enjoys car rides and loves being with his people wherever they go. Animal Friendly: He’s indifferent to both cats and dogs, big or small, and shows no signs of aggression. Foodie Alert: Loves food and treats—this will be a great motivator for training! Skills: Housetrained, crate trained, and knows “sit” and “come.” Energy Level: Moderate. He’s still decompressing, so no toy play yet, but we expect him to become more playful as he relaxes. Arlo is healthy overall but needs to gain some weight. He pulls a bit on leash and is easily startled by loud noises, so continued leash training and a calm environment will help him feel secure. Ideal Home: Arlo will thrive with a patient family willing to give him space and time to open up. A quiet home with consistent routines will be best. Men should use slow introductions to earn his trust. A yard is a bonus, but most of all, he needs love, security, and humans who see the amazing dog he’s becoming. After everything he’s been through, Arlo is ready for the next chapter—a forever family who will never let him down.
