My story

Let me introduce you to quite possibly the sweetest dog we’ve ever met… This is “Crew”, AKA Crouton when she was in the shelter at FWACC.    When we first came across her, I immediately stopped what I was doing. There was something about her eyes that just spoke to my soul.  I can’t put into words what made this incredibly sick dog jump out at me, but she did, and when she did, I made it my mission to get her the help she so desperately needed.    Sweet Crew didn’t have the easiest start. When she was found as a stray at around 7 months old, roaming the scary streets of Fort Worth all alone, she was taken to a high kill shelter. It was the first week of July and she was in terrible shape. Her entire body was riddled with mange and she was clearly in tremendous pain. (She’d still way her tail for anyone who walked by, though!) We immediately got this little darling into the vet to begin her recovery, but we never could have guessed how rapidly she would heal.    I knew she was going to be special, but nothing prepared me for how much room she would steal in my heart. Maybe it’s because she so seamlessly fit into our crazy home full of kids, dogs, and a cat. She gets along famously with everyone! Maybe it’s because she is so incredibly loving. She’s never met a soul she didn’t love. Or maybe it’s because she is just all around the best dog that has ever passed the threshold of our home. I swear, she’s as close to perfect as God makes them.    Did I mention she is a pro in the bath and has really gotten to enjoy her spa days.  Along with everything else, Crew is incredible in the car. She will not move from wherever you put her. She’s the best little riding partner. She is also doing amazingly well on the leash and is nailing crate & potty training.    We don’t typically have our fosters sleep in bed with us, but it just felt right, so that’s where you’ll find her every night at 9pm. She even knows her bed time.   I know you’re reading this and probably thinking that there’s no way her foster mom will let her go. I want to assure you I will though. It’s only because if I keep this precious pup, I can’t help the next sick baby that’s also running out of time at the shelter.    If you’re the kind of family that will treat this little angel like the treasure she is, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
