My story

Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! From the foster: My name is Dixie (579) and you've likely already noticed my sound scoopers (aka ears). Quirky, lopsided, masterpieces of irresistible cuteness right? My hear-holes are certainly my most notable feature, but there is a lot more to me than my big puppy eyes and ears - so if they've caught your attention, please read on! My life began in Texas, a tale of forbidden romance between my Australian Cattle Dog mama and the neighbor's naughty lab mix. The result? A litter of floppy-eared wonders, including yours truly. I soon realized that my "spirit animal" is a tiny human—a hyperactive toddler, to be exact. (and I live with one of those in my foster family so it's okay to say) I've got the energy of a lightning bolt and the attention span of a goldfish. But hey, it keeps life interesting! Speaking of tiny humans, while I am probably the most gentle of my siblings, I will still require LOTS of management and training if I need to share my home with them permanently. The six year old in my foster family adores me and can handle my constant jumping and pawing, but it's a bit too much for the three year old. I am the chonkiest pup, and that is because I like to try to have all the food to myself. I can get a little spicy with my siblings sometimes over that, but in general, I love other dogs, especially the three adult dogs in my foster home. Another thing I should mention is my voice. It's a bit … shrieky when I am unpleased with my circumstances (crate, pen, or anywhere else I am confined). Consider yourself warned and if you have a home with shared walls, please strongly reconsider for your own benefit and that of your neighbors. I love to run outside on my foster families property and while it is fenced, I am extra adventurous like to look for spots I can push loose and through. Because of this a securely fenced outdoor area with supervision is going to be necessary for me to safely burn energy. It's all part of the deal right? You help guide me through my puppy stuff, potty training, obedience, all that good stuff, and I offer you the chance of a lifetime to experience these wonky ears daily as I faithfully accompany you on this ride called life. Let's do this! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
