My story

DOB: March 7, 2023 Axolotl (his foster parents have been calling him Axyl for short) is a shy and nervous tuxedo boy who needs the constant security and attention from his brother Boomslang (Boomers). The two are bonded and must be adopted together. While Boomers requires a raw food diet for his GI issues, Axyl doesn’t like raw food, so he’ll need to be fed something else. He’s a bit picky with some brands, but currently eating a canned brand of food and seems to like it. Mealtime will need to be supervised so Boomers doesn’t eat Axyl’s food. Axyl is not as playful and rambunctious as his brother, but he has a sneaky side and has been prone to jump on kitchen counters in search of food, a butter dish, a greasy pan or anything else that smells tasty. He even knocked a glass container of dry food off a shelf once to get into the tasty bits inside, so his new parents will need to make sure to keep food in a secure location inside a cupboard. He likes to play with toys on a string and stick, but his brother Boomers can sometimes be a bit of a hog, so making some dedicated playtime for Axyl is important. When entering his new home, Axyl will probably take some time to get comfortable in the space, and will need his brother around to keep him feeling safe. He’s likely to spend quite a bit of time hiding for the first week or two until he gets comfortable. If you don’t know where the best hiding spots are in your house, leave it to Axyl to find them. After he gets adjusted, he’s a sweet and sensitive cat who can be quite vocal, especially when he’s hungry or nervous. While he loves cuddling with his brother more than people, he has had occasional moments of affection seeking from his foster parents. Axyl and Boomers will make their new home a happy place with lots of ahhhhs and ohhhhs every time you see them cuddling or sharing their brotherly love. Thank you for giving two best friends a loving home together! Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair is $175 per cat, versus our standard fee of $225 per adult cat.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Axolotl, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
