My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:13Meet Pumpernickel! This sweet, one-year-old brindle pittie mix is ready to find a loving, patient home. Weighing in at 25 pounds, he’s full of potential and just needs the right environment to flourish. Pumpernickel can be a bit shy when meeting new people or entering new spaces, but with time and gentle handling, he opens up and shows his playful, affectionate side. Though he’s still working on some manners like leash walking etiquette (likes to zig-zag everywhere!) and house training, he’s eager to please and responds really well to attention and consistency. He’s a fan of treats and will happily show off his sit for a snack. He’s also a total cuddle bug and loves snuggling up with his humans, especially when it’s time for naps. Pumpernickel enjoys other dogs. He’d do best in a home with a dog buddy or as the solo dog receiving all the love and attention he craves. While he’s a work in progress, Pumpernickel has so much love to give and is ready to bond with someone who’ll guide him through his journey.
