My story

This boy you are looking at right here is a true MIRACLE and a once-in-a-lifetime dog.  The kind that you shake your head as you read the story of their fight for life and his will to live.  Everyone falls in love with Clive.  He quickly became a staff favorite at the small rural shelter that brought him in after he was discovered in a horrible neglect situation of living in a deserted house for over a month with no food or water except from a toilet bowl.  This 5 year old handsome slightly greying black Lab/Shepherd mix boy came to the small rural town shelter over 215 days ago as an emaciated dog with terrible cigarette burns on his back and tail.  All the burns were purposely inflicted.  He weighed just under 40 pounds and today, 8/25, he weighs 65 pounds.  Clive Survived!!!   Thank goodness he was discovered and taken to the shelter for evaluation and saving. He was not a pretty sight.  But through it all, he beat the starvation, got some of the burns healed and some hair grown back in and he was treated for the nasty heartworms that his body was carrying.  He is heartworm free now, fed well and has a bright new shiny black coat with a touch of grey that glistens in the August Summer sun.  Clive survived and became the only dog at the shelter (there for 215 days) the staff would let our of his kennel off leash and go to the play yard and then tell him to go 'home' and he would return to his small 4 X 6 kennel for yet another day and night.  For 215 days he was there.  BUT NOT ANYMORE!   A wonderful and kind foster mom in New England is fostering this boy now and he is waiting for someone to make him a Cinderella Prince story with that special happy ending.  He is living with young children, cats, other dogs and enjoying the beautiful life as a pampered dog who has earned every soft dog bed, every couch potato moment and every zoomie around the fenced backyard.  Clive loves to catch insect flying through the yard and is hours of entertainment for anyone who wants to watch his intensity at doing this special chore.  Clive is the whole tamale.  He is housebroken, tolerates a crate but we honestly think he can do without one.   He loves to ride to school to drop off the children and is smiling more every day since arriving.  He is gentle, loyal, and simply the best shadow of a friend you could ever want. Whoever adopts Clive the Survivor, will not just be getting a dog but a true and devoted new best friend.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 27, 2025, 9:46 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CLIVE-MIRACLE STORY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
