Emery / Female / 4 months / 13lbs and growing / Retriever Husky Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Kids / Good with Cats / Local Intake / Fostered in Thornhill **Follow Emery’s journey on Instagram: @emerytheexplorer Meet Emery! Emery’s foster describes her as playful, curious, and endlessly sweet. She’s always ready for adventure, whether that’s a game of tug-of-war, fetch on the grass, or chasing around with zoomies. After playtime, she’s happiest cuddled up for a nap and belly rubs—often flopping over the moment she feels comfortable. Her favorite activities include chewing her toys, using her snuffle mat or puzzle feeders, and running around outdoors. She greets her foster family with wiggles and kisses, tilts her head when you talk to her, and is quick to curl up for snuggles. With people she knows, Emery is trusting, loyal, and affectionate. She loves to be close and asks for belly rubs right away. With strangers, she can be shy at first but quickly warms up and accepts pets from everyone, including children. She’s gentle, respectful of space, and does especially well with small kids who understand dog etiquette. Her ideal home could be a house, townhouse, or even a condo, as she’s adaptable to different living situations. She enjoys hallways and elevators but also loves yard time. A home with another calm, older dog would be great for her to learn from, though she’d also thrive as a solo pup. She is cat-friendly and has done well living with cats. Emery is still a puppy and learning her routines. She currently goes on several short walks a day (5–10 minutes each) and prefers quiet neighbourhoods, as loud noises like trucks or motorcycles make her nervous. She loves enrichment activities indoors and outdoor play in a quiet yard. Her energy level is moderate—playful bursts followed by naps. She’s working on housetraining and is making progress, with no accidents if taken out regularly. She is crate trained, settles quickly, and sleeps through the night. When left alone for up to 4 hours, she does well in her crate, though she may sneak a sock or blanket if given the chance when free in the house. Emery knows “sit” and “crate” and is eager to learn more. She is food-motivated, quick to pick up on new routines, and very gentle even when she gets playful nips as a puppy. Continued training with recall, leash skills, and house training will help her grow into a confident and well-mannered adult. This sweet girl is still young and learning, but she’s already shown herself to be gentle, affectionate, and adaptable. She would do well in a variety of homes as long as she has patient adopters who can continue guiding her with love and structure. If you’re looking for a cuddly, playful, and gentle puppy who will bring joy and laughter to your home, Emery could be the one for you. As a condition of the adoption contract, Emery’s new family will be required to: - Ensure she has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit - Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). - Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage. - Spay/neuter at 6 months (October 2025). If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Emery, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Emery’s adoption fee is $900.
