My story

MEET ANDREA! Andrea is a 1-year-old medium mixed breed (about 34 lbs) who came to ACC as a stray, brought in by our Field Team. She's a people-loving, wiggly girl who leans in for pets, hops into laps, and quickly bonds with her handler-she'll even sit between your legs for extra closeness! In busy areas and around other dogs she can get over-excited, so she's been practicing fun training games with our team and is catching on fast.MY IDEAL HOME An experienced, adult home that can provide structure, decompression, and positive-reinforcement training. A quieter neighborhood or private entry/yard would help her settle. She thrives with daily brain games, long-lasting chews, and clear routines.GOOD WITH KIDS? Recommended no children under 13 due to arousal/impulse control and some fearful moments in new situations.GOOD WITH OTHER PETS? Andrea is dog-selective. While she's had a few neutral gate greetings, she's generally reactive and prone to "kennel fighting" and hard staring on walks. She may do best as the only pet. If you have a calm, dog-savvy pup, any intros should be very slow, structured, and guided by positive-reinforcement techniques. Cats: unknown.LEASH MANNERS Strong puller-especially near other dogs or doorways. She's practicing "1-2-3" pattern games, engage/disengage, and hand-targeting to refocus. A front-clip harness, distance from triggers, and reward-based training will set her up for success.OVERALL HEALTH Approx. 34 lbs; vaccinated (DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchipped, and dewormed. Recently recovered from a common shelter cold (CIRDC) and had one brief nosebleed episode that's being monitored; she's bright, eating, and active. Spay pending.BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION & OTHER NOTES Level 3. Needs continued work on basic manners/impulse control, management for on-leash reactivity and barrier frustration, and slow introductions to new people and places. She's very social with her humans, takes treats gently, and responds well to training when set up for success.FUN FACTS Bench-cuddle champion and certified people-leaner. Pigeon-watching enthusiast-will happily trade for treats and a training game! Pocket-sized adventure buddy who loves to learn. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 39.5 Age: 1yrs 1mths 0wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Andrea, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
