My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Troy came to us in June after he was found running stray. No one ever claimed him, which shocked us as he's a purebred boxer (around 4 years old). When he came to us he had a huge lump on one hind leg. We thought that it could be some kind of tumor but it turned out to be a huge abscess. It was treated with surgery and antibiotics and has completely healed. His vet exam did reveal that he has a perianal hernia - a big ol' lump on his butt that could affect his ability to poop. He is scheduled to have specialty surgery to repair this on Sept. 15th. He will also be neutered at the same time. Once this is all done, he'll be ready for a new home. Because of his extra vet charges, his adoption fee is $200.  Troy is an all around good dude. He's goofy and playful and loves people. He does appear to have had some basic training as he walks well on leash and knows basic commands. He has done well with other dogs and cats as one of our volunteers took him home for a visit. He's truly become a favorite of all of us at the shelter and we can't wait to see him find his new home.  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
