My story

**Meet Starla – The Baby Hippo with a Heart of Gold!** Starla is a 4-month-old (~DOB 04/23/2025) Pit Bull/Cane Corso mix weighing 27 lbs, and she’s every bit as sweet as she is adorable. Her foster mom describes life with Starla as having a “baby hippo” following you around—complete with the cutest little huffs, grunts, and silly vocalizations that will keep you smiling all day long! Starla is making great progress with house training and does wonderfully in her crate. She loves to play with toys, romp around with other dogs, and snuggle in close when it’s time to rest. She’s good with dogs, cats, and kids, making her a wonderful fit for a variety of families. Because Starla and her sister weren’t well socialized early on, she can still be a little nervous in new situations—but she truly blossoms with the help of a confident canine companion. We highly recommend another dog in the home to help her continue to grow and thrive. With her playful spirit, love of cuddles, and sweet nature, Starla is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of puppy kisses to her forever family. Could she be your new best friend? Her minimum adoption fee is $350 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
