My story

Hi there! My name is Checkers and I'm a neutered, 3-year-old, terrier mix that weighs about 23lbs. I'm a friendly, outgoing fellow that is always looking for his next great sniffari (long walk)! I am the perfect, travel sized running buddy! I'm an energetic young dog and I love to play. When we're not busy strolling though the neighborhood, I love chasing toys! I'm hoping for a family that is prepared to continue my training. I would do best in a furever home with dog savvy bigger kids or adults only. Please bring the entire household, including any resident dogs to meet with me before I join your family. I just want to make sure we'll be the best of friends. I am a super good pup who loves to play. I can chase toys all day long! For more information about me, just ask Customer Service about me! Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor.
