Meet Appa, a friendly and affectionate Pyrenees with a heart as big as his paws! This handsome boy with a curious nature might just be the perfect addition to your family. He wags his tail enthusiastically when meeting new friends and enjoys getting pets on the head. Appa aims to please his people—eager to sit for a treat and give his paw; he just has such a happiness that radiates from him! He is even a dream during grooming, ready to lean into you, helping to ensure you do not miss a spot! Just wait until his gorgeous coat grows in after being clipped short prior to rescue. Appa enjoys the company of female dogs, play bowing with spurts of running around! He would enjoy a female playmate in his new home but would equally do well as an only dog if provided doggie socialization and playdates. A 5-foot secure fenced yard is a must to give this boy plenty of room to play and explore. He is curious about cats, so a dog-savvy feline friend would be ideal for Appa. This boy is ready to join you on any adventure or just running errands – he is a big fan of car rides, jumping in with a wagging tail. Ready to go for walks and hikes – Appa is your boy! Appa prefers to eat alone, but given he came to rescue 30 lbs underweight, that is understandable. Give him the chance to show you just how much love he has to give!  NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Appa in KY Age: 2 yrs 1 mo old as of September 2025  Color: White Dew Claws: Yes, Double   Estimated Adult Weight: 120 lbs  Current Location: NGPR approved boarding in Richmond, KY  Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Housebroken: Yes  Can be Placed With: Dogs, Dog-savvy Cats, Older Kids  Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
