My story

Meet Lucky, an Aussie/Germab Shepherd mix (we think) whose age is… well, let’s just say somewhere between “knows better” and “still plays like a pup.” The vets can’t agree if she’s 3 or 10, and Lucky’s not telling. What she will tell you (with her wagging tail and goofy grin) is that life is good now and she’s ready to share it with a forever family. When Lucky first came to the rescue, her life had been anything but lucky. She was blind from cruelly untreated glaucoma, in constant migraine-level pain. She’d been left outside in the sweltering Texas heat, her fur matted so badly around her neck it was choking her. To top it off, she tested positive for heartworm. But the worst is far behind her now and this girl isn’t looking back. Since getting the medical care she desperately needed, Lucky has bloomed. Her pain is gone, her heart is healing, and her spirit? Unbreakable. Blind? Sure. But don’t tell her that. She navigates her foster home like a champ, plays with the other dogs (okay, sometimes she steps on them by accident), and always finds her way to the treat jar. She’s the kind of dog who reminds you that life is beautiful even when it’s hard and that with love, anything is possible. So if you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts survivor and sweetheart, Lucky is your girl. And while her name started out as a cruel irony, it fits perfectly now because whoever gets to call her family? They’ll be the luckiest of all. Lucky is dog, kid and cat friendly and fully potty trained. Lucky is being fostered in Longmont, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/lucky/. You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucky, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
