Elias

My story

Three physical attributes will catch your eye immediately when you meet Elias. One, he has a tawny colored coat. Two, his alluring, hazel eyes are a perfect match for his coloring. Three, he’s got large pointed ears. Elias is a neutered 6 month old 33lb Carolina/Australian kelpie mix that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/3 due to too many animals. He is timid and cautiously friendly. He is also curious. He explored the yard but came back to hang out with me. He backs up for a treat but did not appear to know the sit command. It was obvious he wanted to please. At one point he just came up behind me and nudged me. I think that meant he wanted my attention and affection. He did his business in the yard. He was hesitant about walking on the leash… probably because of all the barking dogs. Elias is very gentle, well mannered, and sweet. He’s not fully grown and will be too big for an apartment. He’d love to have a yard to explore but thinks it’s too hot to be outside in the summer and too cold and the winter. Cuddling up with his new family on the couch sounds like a much better alternative.
