My story

This adorable youngster is Elke, listed as a shepherd mix, weighing 29 pounds, at about 6 months of age and spayed. When I ran her pics through the Dog Scanner app the following were possible in her breed mix: Carolina Dog, Mountain Cur, Black Mouth Cur and Basenji. She was surrendered by her owner because there were too many dogs on the property. Having only been at the shelter for a few days, she is still shy and nervous, especially fearful of dogs who are barking at her. Initially, sweet girl was timid and had her tail tucked. She warmed up after some good interaction with me and I found her to a friendly girl who just doesn’t seem to understand how she has ended up in a city shelter. She has a pleasant mellow personality. She allowed me to pet her. She walked quite nicely on a leash. She looks serious and somber in her pictures, but I feel she will blossom with further interaction from staff and volunteers. She’s really a cutie pie!
