My story

Hi, I'm Magnolia! I'm ~5 year year old neutered male doxie/spaniel mix, weighing about 20lbs. Sure, I'm 5, but let's be real, age is just a number, am I right?! My past was a garden of thorns. I was rescued from an overcrowded and overwhelming situation (the humans call it a "hoarding" situation), where love and attention were scarce. But despite the challenges, my spirit has remained unbroken, and I'm now ready to unfurl my petals and find my forever home. All I ask is for a little patience and understanding, as I am still learning how to be a dog, and the world can be a scary place for me. But it is getting less scary every day! I am shy and skittish at first, and I take some time to trust new people and feel safe. If you nurture me with patience and kindness, and let me come to you on my own terms, you'll see that behind my scared exterior is a sweet and gentle soul, who wants so badly to love and be loved. Once I know that you are trustworthy and safe, I will be your faithful companion! I adore other dogs, as they've shown me that friendship and fun can go paw-in-paw. Because of my timid nature, I would feel most comfortable in a home with no kids, or older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space. One thing that would make my tail wag with joy: a fenced in yard where I can play, sniff, and feel safe without worrying about getting loose (I'm still learning about leashes). I am medically up-to-date, crate trained, and mostly housebroken (expect some accidents as I get used to a new routine/environment). Will you be my sunshine and help me grow into the best version of myself? As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save.
