My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Hope, a sweet 2-year-old Cockapoo who weighs about 20 pounds. Hope was surrendered by a breeder and came to us a little scared and without a name—so we happily named her Hope, and it suits her perfectly! From the moment she stepped into her foster home, you could see the change in her by her wagging tail and and sweet attitude. She is finally learning what it means to be a real dog! When she first arrived, she was quite matted and needed a good shave, but now she’s looking fabulous and feeling great! Just a heads up, she will need regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. Hope is soaking up all sorts of new experiences in her foster home, like climbing stairs and enjoying the outdoors. She absolutely loves being outside in the sunshine, whether she’s playing with her dog friends or catching some z’s on the picnic table. It’s such a joy to see her play with toys for the first time—she has never had them before! Since she’s always been around other dogs, she would really benefit from a home with a playful dog companion to show her the ropes and teach her new things. Hope is a sensitive soul who prefers a calm and quiet environment. Loud noises or shouting can be a bit much for her, so we’d recommend a more peaceful home, preferably with older kids (12 and up) who understand her gentle nature. She is never mean or aggressive. As a breeder release, she can become a little nervous around new situations and people. She might take a step back at first, but then she’ll lie down and show you she’s ready to be touched. Hope is a total sweetheart when it comes to treats! She gets super excited for them, though she’s still learning to take them from your hand. If you set one down for her, though, she’ll happily gobble it up! Hope is doing well with her house training! She can hold it for about 4 to 6 hours and has her own special signals to let you know when she needs to go outside. You’ll see her spin and circle. She can even use potty pads while she’s still getting the hang of things. Just remember, she’ll need a little time to adjust to her new home. In her foster home, Hope likes to be in the same room as her foster mom and often spends her time napping nearby. She gets along well with both cats and dogs, and she’s not much of a barker. Plus, she doesn't chew on or destroy things, which is a definite plus! Although she’s crate-trained, she prefers to relax in the kitchen while you’re away. Hope is a dog that was released from a breeding facility, similar to those from puppy mills. She is not leash trained and has no experience with leashes and right now they scare her.  Her new home must have a fully fenced yard (please no invisible fences) If you think you might be the perfect match for Hope, please don’t hesitate to apply today. You won’t be disappointed! Hope is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm. She is scheduled to be spayed on September 22, and it will be the responsibility of the adopter to take her for the procedure. The cost of the spay is included in her adoption fee, which is $475. We require that a martingale collar be used at the time of adoption. If you do not have a martingale collar, you can purchase one from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10. This requirement is in place to ensure the dog's safety and security.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 4, 2025, 5:53 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hope, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
