My story

WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi, I’m Bailey! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am a precious little girl! HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born on October 23, 2024. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am an English Bulldog. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I’m packing 36 pounds of solid cuteness on this Bulldog bod! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? Oh boy, this is a good question! Every single person who sees me smiles and stares and comments on how cute I am. I have a tricolor coat with lilac, fawn, and white. I’m really one of the prettiest dogs you’ve ever seen, in my humble opinion. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I have not come across anything that I don’t like to eat yet! I eat my kibble for meals, an occasional blueberry, marshmallows, and I exuberantly participate in the collection of the “cheese tax” at foster mom’s lunchtime. WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am the best combination of lots of personality traits! I am always the sweetest girl who wants to love and be loved. I like to be in the middle of whatever the humans are up to. But then, when everyone is chilling out, I’m also super grateful for a chance to let my lazy bulldog side come out, and I nap like I was born for the snooze life! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: First, and most importantly, the perfect day must include lots of attention from my humans. A close second is food, of course! Plenty of naps and a tasty chew toy of some sort would round out the day perfectly. Really, every day is the best day no matter what I’m doing, and I will make all YOUR days perfect too! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I love toys so much! My favorite is either a spiky ball or a Kong rubber tire. DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I am an expert at sit and shake, for sure. I am also really good at “peekaboo,” where I will circle behind and poke my head through foster mom’s legs. I can also do “spin” and put my paws up on a little stool if you reward me with a tasty treat. WHAT SCARES YOU? Hmm… not much. Some things confuse me and I am a little cautious as I try to figure them out, but that seems like a normal puppy thing to me. I did great with fireworks, and I am not nervous around new people or new places. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I have not been around children, but I would love to meet some! DO YOU LIKE CATS? No thanks. I’ll stick to my own kind, please. (Everybody knows dogs are way cooler than cats, anyway!) HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love other dogs. But I should either be the only dog in the home or maybe have a very mellow companion that wants to just hang out and be lazy with me. (See the health question below for more on this.) IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would be happy anywhere that there are humans loving me and keeping me safe. It would be enough for me if I just had the love of a mommy or daddy. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? Well, I’m a Bulldog, so there are some breathing issues I need to tell you about. I have already had surgery to open up my nostrils and to shorten my elongated soft palate that was blocking my trachea. These efforts have helped to an extent, but I have chronic structural challenges that make breathing a constant issue. In order to help minimize the amount of strain on my respiratory system, I need to be in a low stress, low activity home and should not be allowed to get too hot. This is REALLY important, and I know NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is going to be very particular about my future home because they want to make sure I get the best chance at a happy, comfortable life. WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and four resident dogs of various sizes and ages. Don’t tell the others, but French Bulldog Sylvie is my favorite dog friend. Of course, foster mom is also high on my list of living beings that I enjoy hanging out with. She’s got the food, gives me cuddles, rubs my belly, and keeps me safe. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I am in my pen so I will stay safe when I’m alone. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep in foster mom’s bed so she can make sure I am not having any breathing problems overnight. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I really haven’t gone on leash walks because of my breathing challenges. When I am on leash walking to or from the car for whatever trip we are heading out on, I do great. DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? Hmmm… That is a tough one, because I’m pretty close to perfect. I’m a messy eater. Is that a habit? I’m just appreciating the meal to the fullest, y’know? ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? I am! Once I figure out where potty is supposed to be, I am all good with letting my human know when I need to go. Of course, when I first come to your house, you will need to show me where to potty and give me a consistent routine with patience as I learn, but then I will quickly figure it out. DO YOU LIKE WATER? Ugh, really? I guess I will tolerate a bath, but it’s definitely not on my list of “likes.” Oh, and I need you to keep me safe from pools and other bodies of water since I’m not built for water activities! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? Mostly I love having companions. I am loved, and I know I am safe. As long as I have love and food and a cozy bed, I am the happiest little girl in the world. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ADOPTER? I am looking forward to finding my perfect forever family. I hope you will keep me safe by taking care of my medical needs and helping me live a long life without future breathing complications. Would you please take me to your home and let me stay with you forever? ** BAILEY’S ADOPTION FEE IS $ 500 ** If you are interested in Bailey, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas.
