My story

Meet PawPaw – a six-year-old Shih Tzu or possibly Lhasa Apso with a beautiful coat and a heart as gentle as his pace. This 15-pound sweetheart is learning to trust people and the outside world.   Pawpaw is doing very well with housetraining, is not happy in a crate and is really trying to be brave enough to walk on a leash.  His foster mom takes him for stroller rides, which he now absolutely loves.  PawPaw is timid in new settings and shy when meeting new people.  He needs time to build trust and feel safe. This dear boy enjoys chewing on a bully stick, playing with the other small dogs in the foster's home and going for stroller rides through the neighborhood.   PawPaw does need another playful dog about his size or smaller as a playmate and confidence builder. While PawPaw is blind in his right eye, vision in his left eye is fine.  He tested positive for heartworm, but don’t let that scare you. He’s already begun treatment, and Wish Bone will continue to provide treatment either through our vet or by providing medication for your vet to administer. If you’re looking for a sweet little companion to share your days, PawPaw would love to meet you. His minimum adoption fee is $300 + $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
