My story

Aretha (nicknamed Shadow in her foster home) is a 9-week-old pup with a heart full of love and curiosity. She is one of a 10 puppy litter that Humane Tomorrow pulled from a local shelter, along with their mom, Mama Cass. All are available for adoption! Aretha has a way of looking you in the eyes that makes you feel like she’s truly communicating with you — she’s personable, connected, and eager to bond. This sweet girl is the perfect mix of playful explorer and cuddly companion. She’s inquisitive, athletic, and will thrive in an active home, but she also melts into your arms for snuggles and loves to snooze while being held. At the same time, she’s independent enough to nap on her own when needed. Aretha is great with other dogs — she currently lives with two big foster siblings and reads their cues beautifully. She’s very intelligent and is already working on her crate training and house training. She’s food-motivated yet gentle with treats, and she lights up just as much from praise as she does from snacks.
