Ginny is a stunning 2-year-old Retriever/Black Labrador mix who came to Anderson Humane from an overcrowded shelter in Louisiana. This sweet girl is as friendly as they come—she loves everyone she meets and is always ready with kisses to share. Ginny is a smart pup who already knows how to sit, and she’ll happily show off her skills for a tasty piece of cheese—her absolute favorite treat! She’s also a little chatterbox and will “talk” to you when she wants attention, which only adds to her charm. Ginny has plenty of playful energy and would thrive in an active home where she can enjoy walks, playtime, and adventures once she completes her heartworm treatment. With her joyful spirit and affectionate nature, Ginny is ready to bring endless love and fun to her forever family! When Ginny arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the very best place for a Heartworm-positive dog like Ginny to go through treatment and recovery is in a loving forever home. If you choose to adopt Ginny, Anderson Humane’s clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The treatment process typically takes about three months and includes some simple at-home steps to help keep Ginny safe while she recovers. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The good news? Heartworm treatment is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Ginny will make a full recovery! And rest assured – Heartworm can only be transmitted by mosquitoes, not directly from pet to pet. Stop in and meet Ginny in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ginny, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
