Coastal is a 2-year-old, 42-pound sweetheart who is still finding her confidence here at the shelter. While she can be shy at first, treats and a gentle approach quickly help her warm up. With just a little encouragement (and a treat or two), she stepped out and walked smoothly on leash.Though she can still be unsure at times, Coastal is tolerant, steady, and shows her trust by coming back for more treats and allowing gentle chin and head pets. Each day she grows braver, and it’s clear that the tense, nervous girl of her past is behind her.Coastal had an amazing Dog’s Day Out adventure! At first, she was a little nervous getting into the car, but with some treats and gentle reassurance, she began to trust her handler. Soon, her playful, affectionate personality came out—she even rested her head on the console and tried to climb into a lap while driving. Coastal loved having the window down and watching the world go by.She met lots of new friends throughout the day and warmed up quickly when they offered her treats. Once she felt comfortable, she was eager to greet everyone she saw. Coastal is very food-motivated—she’ll even sit without being asked if she sees a treat—and she’s a smart girl who was already picking up “spin.” She also discovered how fun toys can be, enjoying tug and chasing after the ball.Inside, Coastal showed her cuddly side. She liked to sit close, ask for pets, and even bring toys to share. She showed curiosity about her surroundings but always stayed nearby and came right back when called—especially if treats were involved. She is mostly housebroken, with just a couple of accidents, which is understandable in a new and exciting environment. Coastal can be a little stubborn at times, preferring to stop or stay put if she doesn’t feel like walking, but with patience (and food motivation), she happily cooperates. By the end of the day, she was relaxed and grateful, soaking up head scratches, giving her handler sleepy-eyed looks of love, and even sneaking in a nap.On the ride back, she confidently hopped into the car, enjoyed the breeze with her head out the window, and cheerfully greeted everyone back at the adoption lobby. Coastal is a beautiful, silly, affectionate girl with a radiant smile and silky coat. Once she feels safe, she shows just how loving and playful she truly is. She deserves a home where she can continue to be cherished and spoiled with the love she craves.Coastal is ready f
