My story

Tupelo is fostered in Niagara Falls Ontario. Read about our adoption process on our website. Tupelo! Is ~9-month-old mixed breed, weighing in at about 30lbs. He spent most of his early months in a kennel. Since coming to Canada and over the past month Tupelo is learning that while unfamiliar situations may be scary, that with a strong handler he can build his confidence. Tupelo is working on leash skills, recall, waiting at thresholds etc. He is uncertain in new situations, which can lead to a 'flight mode'. He has made fantastic progress (videos on social media) as he works with the training team at Martindale Kennels (update below). This training is to help prepare him for his new life, with his forever family. Tupelo's ideal home? A home that will provide guidance and structure as that makes him feel safe. It will be important that Tupelo has a home that will continue with training as that will increase his confidence and allow him to be the fantastic (and very lovable) boy that we know he is. A calm and confident leader will allow Tupelo to feel more calm and confident himself! Tupelo really enjoys the company of other dogs and will do well as a single or multiple dog household member. Update from Tupelo's trainer at Martindale Kennels Tupey is doing amazing things with us at Martindale Kennels. He is a shy and sensitive guy who builds confidence through following direction of a calm, confident leader. The more we take opportunities to guide and lead him the more we see his mind settling down and his body coming out of flight mode. So its all about creating balance for this boy! Affection comes when hes calm and feeling secure. If he goes back into flight its our job to gently guide him back to the mind set where he follows us for direction.
