Socialization: Bunny met the whole family yesterday, children from 4-16, 3 Granddogs, and adults and was amazing! She was so happy to see everyone, no jumping at all, she loved the children and was very good with the Granddogs. Initially she was slightly hesitant but that truly only lasted a minute. Once she was in the midst of everyone she absolutely loved the attention. Bunny is a calm, sweet and loving girl. Training: Bunny has just responded to her name, and is slowly learning some commands At this time she does understand "no, leave it", with come she will watch you and wait and when you move to go inside or leave she will immediately follow you. Stay is a new one she is beginning to react to also. Being only 2 years old and seemingly not have any socialization and training, Bunny is doing great. She is eager to learn. She hasn't quite figured out that the children toys are not her toys, but she is not destructive at all. She will grab a sneaker if it is left unattended... but again she is not destructive. Bunny has had no accidents at all since she has come to us, she is definitely housetrained. She does not chew furniture, etc. Crate Trained: Bunny shows no interest in the crate, and honestly has not needed it. She sleeps all night without any issues, and will let us know when she wakes it she has to go outside. Leash Trained: Bunny has been walked on a harness, and will pull, but each walk she gets better. She will react to a squirrel or bird, so always need to be aware. She has not come in contact with another dog on our walks. Activity Level: Bunny Is more of a medium energy level, she loves running in the backyard, but even more loves to lay in the sun chewing her bone. To see her feel the freedom of the fenced in yard, running and playing with her toys, it would be best for her at a young age to have a yard to romp in. She is fine on walks, but exercising in the yard seems to be her favorite. She is very good in the house, and settles right down. Fence: Preferably a fenced in yard for Bunny, and she has never attempted to jump our 4' fence. Behavior: Bunny is a total love bug! She is not a Velcro dog though, she loves to sit with you on the couch, or be within sight of you in the home, but is not always by your side. She is very affectionate, will come for her hugs and kisses, then go romping outside with her toy in her mouth, flipping it up in the air happy as can be. If we are outside sitting on the deck, she is there laying beside you. She is truly a sweet and gentle girl. Medical History: UTD on vaccinations, is spayed/neutered, microchipped, & on monthly heartworm preventative. Foster Comments: When Bunny first arrived, she was understandably quiet, on the shy side. In 3 weeks she has blossomed into the most loving, gently, happy girl. She is wonderful around children (she has been with 4-16 year olds), she is fine around other dogs, larger is better. Bunny has some small Chihuahua foster siblings and she wants to play with them, but her goofy self is a bit too much for them. She is calm in the house, and absolutely loves being outside to run in the fenced in yard. Having her in our family and watching her blossom more each day has been such a joy for us. Foster Location: Yorktown Heights, New York Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home.
