Name:    Brownie Blast     Best Guess for Breed:    Shepherd/Basset mix  Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of February 2025    Gender:   male Approximate Weight:    35 lbs. Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats and has only met kids, but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At: D.C. area home. Special Adoption Considerations: Brownie Blast is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Brownie Blast is Looking For: Brownie Blast may be getting a bit wiser with age, but don’t let that fool you—this guy has the enthusiasm of a young dog who just found the treat jar. He’s all about  adventures, sniffing out the best spots, and pretending he’s a professional explorer. Brownie’s perfect for long walks, loves playing with friends at doggy daycare or hanging out at the dog park (he’ll even teach you how to live in the moment).  Brownie’s a social butterfly who loves attention from people and will happily be the center of your universe (if you let him). After a day of play and making friends, he’s ready for sleeping in and snuggles. Because who says you can't be mature and still demand belly rubs and want to play like it’s your job?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Brownie Blast is an older pup with a heart full of love and a youthful spark that loves to play. His playful nature and zest for life remain strong. Brownie Blast loves to stay active, whether it’s chasing after his favorite toys or simply basking in the attention of his humans.
