My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, September 20th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $650 Meet Teeter and Totter!   Teeter and Totter are a pair of 14–16 week old puppies who came to DPS from an overcrowded shelter. At first, they were shy little guys, unsure of people and hesitant to get too close. But with some time and patience, their foster has watched them blossom into affectionate, playful, and cuddly pups who are ready to bring joy to their forever families.   Daily Routine: These boys are on a flexible schedule since their foster free-feeds them kibble. They tend to eat about three times a day and are crate-trained, sleeping together peacefully in their crate at night. In the mornings, they head outside around 8am, and throughout the day they alternate between lounging on the sofa, playing with each other, or curling up for naps. They love being outside—whether it’s chasing each other around the yard or soaking up the sunshine. When their foster leaves for the office, they stay in a pen with their crate, food, water, toys, a bed, and potty pads. Bedtime is usually around midnight, when they snuggle up together in their crate.   Personalities: When they first arrived, Teeter and Totter had a funny mix of bravery and hesitation—they’d wag their tails and approach their foster, only to shrink back at the last moment. After just a few days, though, their sweetness shone through. Now, both pups love to climb onto laps, curl up for snuggles, and cover their foster in kisses (especially on the eyes and ears!). They follow their foster from room to room much of the time, though sometimes they’re just as happy hanging out on the sofa or entertaining each other.     Other Pets & People: Teeter and Totter have done well with other dogs in their previous foster home. In their current foster home, they only have each other, and they’re constant playmates. They haven’t been tested with cats yet, but they’re still young and adaptable. They’ve met visitors and been very friendly with them.   Play & Energy: These two balance their puppy playfulness with cuddle time. They enjoy chasing each other, tossing toys around, and play wrestling, but they’re also content to sprawl out on the sofa. They’re teething, so they do look for things to chew, but provide them with safe chew toys and they’re happy.   Training & Habits: Teeter and Totter are doing great with housetraining. They’re crate-trained, use potty pads reliably, and go potty outside when taken out regularly. They rarely bark—so far, just the occasional bark at a surprising sound (like the washing machine!) or a passing neighbor.   Why You’ll Love Them: These brothers are soft, snuggly, and small enough to scoop up and hold. They’re endlessly entertaining—whether it’s trying to “bury” toys in sofa cushions or tumbling over each other mid-play, they’ll keep their forever family smiling.   Ideal Home: Teeter and Totter will be adopted out separately to prevent littermate syndrome. They’d each thrive in a home that appreciates their mix of cuddly affection and puppy playfulness. Another friendly dog could make a great match, or they’d be happy soaking up love and attention as the stars of the household.   If you’ve been dreaming of an affectionate, playful pup, Teeter and Totter are ready to meet you.September 19, 2025, 6:53 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Totter, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
