My story

Summer is a sweet and loving,  approximately 7 years young and  Bichon mix mill survivor. When she first came to her foster home, she was very frightened and mostly stayed in a dog bed that became her safe place. As time went on she gained confidence and is now a happy pup who has started to play with her foster family.   So far she has not been interested in toys which is not unusual for a mill dog.    Summer has been spayed, has all her vaccination shots and her dental work completed.  Twelve teeth were removed so she doesn't have very many left.  As a result of the many extractions,  Summer only eats wet food ,but loves getting liver treats which she chews on for a while before swallowing and then comes back for more.   She has been in the company of  both large and small dogs and was not really interested in them.  Currently Summer is living with two other small dogs who she does interact with sometimes.  Summer is devoted to her person, wanting to sit with and on them if allowed.     Summer sleeps on the bed with her foster mom and will cuddle  for part of the night and then move to her own spot.  In the morning, when she senses that you are awake, she will come and ask you to wake up by putting her paws on your head or nuzzling your neck with her nose.     She has recently started to walk on a leash, but will need more practice as she tends to want to go her own way and much longer than you may have intended because of the wonderful smells along the way.  Car rides have been a bit difficult for Summer so far as she tends to get car sick especially on short journeys.  On longer trips on the highway she will drool quite a bit but settles down for a nap.  Gravol, given a couple of hours before has been helping and there are other medications available if needed. Summer quickly learned to go up stairs but is afraid to go down the stairs so a home without stairs would probably be best for her or someone that can carry her down        This sweet and lovely girl will be your best friend if you are fortunate to be her forever family.     September 20, 2025, 8:17 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Summer, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
