He's a happy, bouncy guy who's eager to please and will hang on your every word. With medium energy, he enjoys a day full of attention from his people, and many naps. He knows "sit" and is more than willing to do so at your command - just watch his videos! Max is a very smart pup and a little training will go a long way to making him the perfect Pyr companion. Max is housebroken and learning to walk on leash. This pup is good-natured and happy to oblige your commands, but having treats on hand will make him sit faster. He prefers to be inside, and is a cuddle-bug, so curling up with you on the couch for a snooze is something he is ready and willing to do. He’s a breeze to groom, as he loves being brushed (it’s just more attention, after all!). Max should be in an active home with a 6-foot fence and with strong, loving leadership from people who are experienced in working with large, intelligent breeds. Fill out our online application below if you'd like us to arrange a meeting with Max! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. September 16, 2025, 5:24 pm
