My story

Meet Basil, Nonstop Energy Then Crash for Cuddles! Basil came to the Freedom Squad from Redlands Shelter missing most of her fur, battling mange, alopecia, and an upper respiratory infection. Basil is young 1 years old and 23lbs full of spirit and determined to get better! Fast forward—she is now looking absolutely fabulous and is ready to steal the show (and your heart). This girl is a bundle of sass and excitement! Basil has endless energy—whether it’s chasing her foster siblings, jumping in baby pools, or showing off her infamous puddle zoomies. She is completely ball-obsessed (actually, obsessed might be an understatement). Her favorite playmate is her big pitbull foster brother, Rojo. Their “date nights” are epic wrestling matches followed by cuddles, and Basil would probably crawl inside of him if she could. Basil’s playful personality comes with a dash of diva. She loves tug-of-war, and she fully intends to win every single time. She doesn’t always read other dogs’ “back off” signals, so continued guidance with doggie manners will help her shine. She also has a mischievous streak—sneaking shoes from the closet, zipping her toys through the doggy door, and keeping her foster family laughing daily. Life with Basil isn’t all zoomies and sass—she’s also a snuggler at heart. After playing hard, she crashes even harder, curling up for the sweetest naps. She loves to cuddle up to Rojo or snuggle near her humans on the dog bed at night. The Basil Facts • Potty training: A work in progress, but she’s catching on fast. • Outdoors: Absolute favorite place to be—it’s a chore convincing her to come inside. • Quirks: Known for quick “snacking” if you’re not fast with cleanup (yep, turds ). Loose poops may be from her own sneaky snacking. • Must-haves: Baby pools, butt wipes by the back door, tough toys for tug, and humans who love her wild spirit. • Bonus: She’s brave with the dog door and not afraid to carry treasures (or trouble) inside. • Kids under 10 not sure, we prefer older because of toys and her being so young. Basil is sassy, spunky, and date-worthy—perfect for someone who loves adventure, laughter, and a Frenchie with a big personality.
