Special needs kitty alert! Meet 4 month old Holland, a sweet and social girl with rear limb weakness. Born to a family's indoor/ outdoor cat, baby Holland was surrendered to the shelter with her siblings around 2 months old. Pretty quickly we realized she was slipping around on her back legs when she walked, and sent her to one of our veterinary partners for diagnostics and care. Much to our surprise, the vet did not find any fractures or injuries! Holland does not seem to be in any pain or discomfort, and doesn't even know she's different from her siblings. When she walks, her right hind limb will buckle every few steps, and sometimes her left hind will go down with it too, causing her to stumble, slip, or fall over. She doesn't let it hinder her, though, and gets right back up to play and run around!Holland has no trouble accessing a standard litter box and has no incontinence issues associated with her hind limb weakness. She can even jump up a full foot to get on and off her tower bed! As she grows, we expect her to retain this level of mobility, if not improve. Currently, our vet partners frequently check on Holland and have no quality of life concerns for her, nor any reason to see further complications arising. Holland is currently for adoption at 4 Legs Good in Pomona, NY! Please call (845) 414-9700 to learn more about this special lady!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Holland, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
