My story

Meet Bear! Bear is a 2-year-and-10-month-old, 90lb Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Pointer mix—a big, loveable bundle of energy and affection! With his goofy smile and wagging tail, he’s always ready to make new friends, whether they’re adults, other dogs, or kids. This sweet boy is crate trained (he sleeps happily in his crate overnight) and fully house trained. While he’s not especially food-motivated, Bear is eager to please and responds well to affection and his favorite toys. He’s been working hard on his training and loves showing off the new commands he's learned! Bear loves his walks and outdoor adventures. He recently rode the TTC and had a great time exploring the world. He’s still working on his leash manners—his excitement sometimes gets the best of him—but with patience and consistency, he’s improving every day. Bear would thrive in an active home with space to move—ideally a house with a yard, and even better if it’s fenced. He absolutely loves being outside and would be thrilled to visit a cottage or spend time in nature. He’s great with other dogs and loves kids, but due to his size and enthusiasm, he may accidentally knock over smaller children in his excitement to say hello. He’d do best with older kids or dog-savvy younger ones, especially as he continues working on his impulse control. When left alone, Bear is crated and will let out some whimpering at times. His foster family says he’s a total sweetheart—and while he’s been very happy with them, they know he’d love a home with a bit more space to stretch out and play. Someone who works from home where he isn’t left for long periods of time would be a bonus. Bear is a joyful, loyal companion who’s ready to bring energy, love, and fun into your life. If you're looking for a playful adventure buddy who will greet you like a rockstar every time you walk through the door—Bear is your guy ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt BEAR, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
