My story

Meet Mr. Cheeks, a 9-year-old pit bull mix who has completely stolen our hearts. He came to us from County after being mistaken for having mouth masses, but it turned out this brave, gentle boy was actually battling something very different. After visiting specialists and the wonderful team at Carefree Dentistry, Mr. Cheeks was diagnosed with chronic ulcerative stomatitis, a painful condition that led to chronic nasal discharge and inflammation in his mouth and nasal passages. Over time, that inflammation even ate away part of his soft palate—making life a bit more challenging, but giving him the most endearing, one-of-a-kind little expressions. Despite everything he’s been through, Mr. Cheeks is pure sweetness. He melts hearts the moment he meets you with his gentle spirit, wagging tail, and soulful eyes. Now that he’s on the right medications, he’s finally feeling so much better—his personality is shining brighter every day. He loves to gallop around the yard, lean in for affection, and soak up every ounce of love he can get. Mr. Cheeks will always have a bit of a gunky nose, but hey, don't we all have a little baggage?
