My story

ALL ABOUT ME Name: Kopa Age: 9 months old Gender: Female Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Malinois Jindo mix Colour: Black, Brown Weight: 12kg / 26.5lbs Microchipped: Yes   MY RESCUE STORY  Hi there! I’m Kopa. I was rescued from the euthanasia list at a city pound, and though I don’t know what my life was like before arriving at the shelter, I’m so grateful to the rescuers who saw the spark in me and gave me a second chance. Now, I’m ready to leave the past behind and find my forever family — a home full of love, laughter, and endless cuddles where I can truly be myself.    MY HEALTH Fully vaccinated (5-round series complete) I’ve been spayed and have no known health issues.   MY PERSONALITY I’m a sweet girl with a ton of potential! I would thrive in a home with experienced dog owners, ideally someone familiar with Malinois, as I’m super energetic and need both physical and mental stimulation. I’ll need plenty of obedience training and structured guidance, but with the right family, I know I can fully unleash my potential. I generally get along well with people and other dogs, though I’ll need supervision because I can get pushy or “mouthy” at times, quickly nipping to get what I want — a typical trait for a Malinois. With patience, consistency, and a family who understands my breed, I’ll become a loyal, happy, and high-achieving companion.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS With People: I’m a curious girl who loves meeting new people! When we first meet, I may need a little time to warm up and adjust before I’m ready for pets — I just want to feel safe and trust you. Leadership, patience, and guidance help me learn how to behave confidently, and giving me treats is one of the fastest ways to win my heart. I haven’t had much experience with kids yet, so I’d do best in a home without them. Once trust is earned, I happily allow myself to be picked up and love showing my belly when I feel comfortable. I don’t guard my food around people, but when I get excited, I may nip to get your attention — a totally normal part of Malinois and puppy behavior! With consistent training, leadership, and patience, I’m learning to manage my excitement and impulses, and I’ll continue growing into a calm, well-mannered, and affectionate companion.   With Dogs: I generally get along well with my dog friends and love to play! That said, I do best with dogs my size or bigger, as my high energy can be overwhelming for smaller dogs. I can also get a little possessive with my food when other dogs are nearby, so structured management and separate feeding are important to keep everyone safe and happy. If another dog is pushy or rude, I’m not afraid to stand my ground, so supervised introductions are essential when meeting new dog friends. With the right guidance and careful management, I thrive in a structured, playful environment where I can safely socialize and have fun.   With Cats:  I have no exposure to cats yet so my reaction is unknown. Due to my high prey drive and energy, I will do best in a home with no small animals.   ENERGY AND ACTIVITIES I have a high energy level and will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation, along with regular exercise, before I can settle nicely indoors. This is a typical trait of Malinois (and Jindo) breeds, so I’ll thrive in an active home that can provide structure, consistent training, and plenty of opportunities to keep my mind and body engaged. With the right environment, I’ll be a happy, confident, and well-mannered companion.   TRAINING & HABITS I’m still learning my leash manners and can get a little excited when something catches my interest, so I might pull at times. That said, I do follow my handler’s lead and am learning how to walk calmly. I don’t have much experience on leash yet, and I can sometimes lie flat if something startles me during walks.   While I don’t guard my food around people, I will need continued obedience training to help me manage my natural impulsive and pushy behaviors, like nipping to get what I want — a typical trait of high-energy Malinois. I’ll thrive in a home with experienced dog owners who understand energetic breeds and can provide guidance, structure, and patience. I’ll also need management during mealtimes when other dogs are nearby and do best either as the only dog or with a respectful, confident dog of similar size.   I can bark to get attention or when meeting strangers for the first time, but I also know how to rest quietly and calmly in my kennel. Underneath all my energetic behavior, I’m a sweet and affectionate girl who just needs gentle leadership and consistent guidance to shine.   MY IDEAL HOME  I’m looking for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: A family that offers a safe, structured, and calm environment. A family that enjoys spending quality time together indoors & outdoors. A family that can shower me with love and attention. Ideally the only dog at home. A family that understands my love for food and willing to guide me with patience and leadership so I learn to control my impulses when other dogs are near by. An experienced family — ideally familiar with Malinois or other high-energy working breeds — who is willing to patiently teach me the ropes with obedience training, helping me learn to coexist peacefully with everyone, including other dogs    SPECIAL NOTES  I know the right family is out there for me, and I have so much potential waiting to be unleashed! With patience, love, and guidance, I’ll blossom into a wonderful, well-mannered young lady. Once I form a strong bond with my family, I’ll truly shine — I naturally want to please, I’m very intelligent, and I learn quickly. I do currently have a habit of eating my poop right after going, and I’ll need some help with this. This behavior may stem from my time in a care facility, where being confined to a small space sometimes made it hard to release my energy and manage stress. With the right home, structured guidance, and lots of love, I know I can overcome this and continue growing into the best version of myself. I’m a sweet, eager-to-please, and affectionate girl who just needs a family who understands me, and I can’t wait to share all my love and energy with them!   Kopa's YouTube Playlist ##2553962##
