ZIGGY

My story

Gentle sweetheart, very smart, loves people and dogs! Ziggy is obedient and eager to please. He appears to be fully grown and has blossomed beautifully in his foster home. He is great on leash and LOVES to play with other friendly, active dogs. Ziggy's build is more compact than a typical Labrador Retriever, and lighter on his feet. His fur is silky smooth and easy to brush. He is a quick learner, VERY gentle, and full of fun. Ziggy has the sweetest disposition! Although he enjoys standing up on his hind legs, he is usually very good about keeping four paws on the floor. Ziggy is pure joy, a kind-hearted dog who is happy and very grateful to be in a foster home with two active foster sisters. Ziggy wants to please! He thrives on attention and is food-motivated. He sometimes "talks" when he's excited, and alerts to a knock at the door, but he is not an incessant barker. Ziggy absolutely absolutely loves his foster sisters, who are great playmates. He rests peacefully when it is naptime and enjoys chew toys. **Update: Ziggy recently stayed with an interim foster while his foster mom was on travel. He was sweet and companionable to the male dog in the home (who has some physical limitations). Ziggy is 100% house- and dog-door trained. He goes when told to his kennel, where he overnights without complaint. He alerts when he needs an outdoor/potty break. He also knows "off" and "walk" -- he is very excited for walks!  Ziggy enjoys squeak toys and snuggling. He is a curious problem-solver and loves "enrichment" like  puzzle play. He likes squeak toys and snuggling, and is able to go from very playful to very calm and relaxed as needed throughout the day. Ziggy's escalation from mellow back to "play" status is rapid! He enjoys the dogs and humans of all sizes at the dog park. He would likely be a great hiking and walking buddy.**   Ziggy needs 1) an attached, private yard and 2) at least one friendly, playful dog who weighs 40+ lbs. He would love to live with active kids (middle school or older). He has lovely manners! Ziggy will be placed in the Phoenix metro area, for proximity to our rescue (home checks, follow up visits, visit to finalize adoption) and for access to our veterinarian. Our adoptions begin with a Foster-To-Adopt period, which is not feasible with remote placements.
