My story

GRACIE, F/S, DSH, BROWN/BLACK LABRADOR/GERMAN SHEPHERD MIX BREEDBORN NOVEMBER 26 2023Gracie, the dog who ended up in a Cat Rescue As one can very obviously see, Gracie isn`t the typical pet we post looking for a home. We are animal lovers after all though, and this girl is so deserving of an amazing forever home. Our volunteers first met Gracie when they were contacted about a Momma cat and kitten. Unfortunately, they had been living in less than ideal conditions. There was also another cat and a dog in the home. We were able to find a foster for the additional cat. We also asked to meet the dog so we could network them and try to find a dog rescue. Unfortunately, all the dog rescues and shelters we contacted were full, but we couldn`t stop thinking about sweet Gracie. Gracie’s previous owner was being evicted and could not take Gracie with her. They also were sadly not doing Gracie any justice at all. She rarely went outside of the apartment, had never been on a walk before and just lived out her days inside. Somehow, through all this, Gracie ended up being one of the sweetest dogs you could meet. Thankfully, one of our foster homes stepped up and took her in. Gracie is fantastic with other animals, and is a stage one clinger when it comes to her people! All she really wants is to love and be loved. Since she has been in foster care, she is learning so much! She goes on walks several times a day, has learned that car rides are a fun thing and is seeing what it really means to be part of a family. Gracie is great with humans of all ages and is extremely gentle. She can be a bit timid at times still due to her past, but she has made great strides in building her confidence. She is now looking for that right family to continue her journey.Gracie needs someone who can commit to regular exercise and training. She is almost completely housebroken. Previously, she was trained to use pee pads inside, but she is learning that outside is the right place to do her business. She`s also been working on her leash training and basic obedience. She is eager to please and very smart! She picks up on new tasks very easily and is very praise motivated. Gracie also has a very goofy side. She has such a big personality and will have you laughing with all her little nuances and antics. She is big on cuddling and sometimes thinks that she is a lap dog. Gracie`s ideal home would be a family or individua

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gracie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
