My story

QUICK FACTS Name: Sonya Age: 1 Year Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Jindo–Spitz Mix Color: White Weight: 12kg / 26.4lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from the euthanasia list at the Miryang City Shelter in Korea. Shelter staff spoke very highly of my gentle nature and sweet personality, which is why I was chosen for rescue. When I was first brought out of the shelter, I was very scared and cautious, and it took time for me to realize I was finally safe. With patience and consistency, I began to open up—and the loving, affectionate dog I truly am started to shine.   MY PERSONALITY My name is Sonya, and I’m a gentle girl with a lovely contrast in personality. When meeting new people, I may appear shy and reserved at first. I’ll happily accept treats right away, but I prefer to be touched once I’ve had a little time to feel comfortable. With a few days to a week of settling in, my personality opens up beautifully — I become affectionate, enjoy staying close to my people, and love curling up for quiet companionship. Once bonded, I’m very people-oriented and happiest when I’m near my humans.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS • With People: I can be cautious with unfamiliar people at first and need a few days to feel comfortable. Once trust is built, I become very loving and attached. I have not yet met children under 13.   • With Dogs: I’ll approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but I’m not very interested in playing. I’m most comfortable with dogs similar to my size and usually avoid conflict, even if another dog provokes me. • With Cats: I have not yet been tested with cats. (A cat test can be conducted upon request to ensure the best fit.)   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy outdoor time and walks, and after activity, I relax calmly indoors. I have plenty of walking experience, walk nicely on leash without pulling, and follow my handler well.   TRAINING & HABITS I walk nicely on leash and follow my handler well. I don’t guard food from people or other dogs, and I’m generally easygoing at home. I may bark occasionally when I want something, but I’m calm in a kennel and adapt well to routines. I do well with both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty, and I continue to improve with consistency and structure.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m looking for a patient and understanding family who can give me the time I need to feel safe and settled. I would thrive in a home with: • A calm environment that allows for a gentle adjustment period • Adopters who understand that trust builds over time • Consistent routines that help me feel secure • A family excited to enjoy a deeply affectionate companion once a bond is formed   SPECIAL NOTES Sonya is a dog with a beautiful “before and after.” She may not run up to you right away, but for the family who can offer patience during her adjustment period, she becomes an incredibly affectionate, loyal companion. Once she feels secure, she sticks close, seeks comfort, and showers her people with love. Sonya is proof that sometimes the most rewarding bonds are the ones built slowly—with trust, kindness, and time.   Sonya's Youtube Playlist   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2633185##
