My story

Pita is a gentle seven-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua. At the Pinal County Animal Shelter, he shared a kennel with four other small dogs, showing that he can comfortably coexist with canine companions. When our staff first met him, Pita was a bit shy, but it didn’t take long for his true personality to shine. On the car ride back to Home Fur Good, he spent the entire trip curled up on our Animal Coordinator’s lap, happily giving kisses and soaking up affection. He warms up quickly once he feels safe. Pita is a charming little guy who appreciates the simple comforts in life. He enjoys tasty treats, cozy soft beds, and being carried around like the treasured companion he is. He’s also wonderfully tolerant during handling and is even good for nail trims, an impressive quality for a Chihuahua! With a little time to settle into a new environment, Pita shows himself to be easy-going, affectionate, and personable. One thing to note is that Pita can be a bit of a door-dasher, so he’ll need supervision and guidance while adjusting to his new home. With consistency and care, this is very manageable. Given patience and love, Pita will make a devoted and delightful companion. Pita’s adoption fee of $250 includes neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.
